A Natural Sunscreen So Safe You Could Eat It

by Dr. Young Soo Kim

Sunlight is truly important. Getting a proper amount of sunlight is essential for your health — and it also improves your mood.

Personally, when I don’t get enough sunlight, I start experiencing symptoms of depression. Sometimes it feels like a mix of depression and a mild cold that lasts for weeks, even months. I live in a high-latitude coastal region with an oceanic climate, and the long, rainy winters are difficult. But when I finally get strong sunlight, within just 30 minutes almost all symptoms disappear as if by magic. Every winter I’m reminded of the tremendous power of sunlight.

From late spring to early autumn, I like to hike in the forest with my upper body exposed, soaking in the sunlight. I think of it as “charging my body with light” and investing in my health. It really does lift my spirits for days. I’ve heard that in the old days, scholars used to sunbathe completely naked for several days each year.

However, there’s a problem: sunlight — especially ultraviolet rays — can cause skin aging and even skin cancer.

A dermatologist friend once told me that it’s important to wear sunscreen even indoors. Many women with beautiful skin take extreme care to protect themselves from sunlight. They try not to go outside at all, and if they must, they apply sunscreen heavily not only on the face but all over the body. They also wear hats, carry parasols, and wear clothes designed to completely block sunlight.

Sometimes it makes me wonder if they want to live in a cave — but since experts do it, there must be a good reason. Indeed, if sunlight can damage wooden houses, furniture, and photos over time, how much more damage could it do to our fragile skin? Sunlight seems both beneficial and harmful — a real paradox.

The Problem with Chemical Sunscreens

Our research team began working with world-renowned dermatologists, beauty specialists, and other scientists to study this issue in depth.

We analyzed most major sunscreens produced worldwide and discovered several critical issues:

  1. The skin naturally protects and heals itself.
However, prolonged use of chemical sunscreens weakens these abilities. Over time, the skin becomes more sensitive and slow to heal — even brief sun exposure can cause burns.

  2. Chemical sunscreens do not provide complete protection.
Sunlight includes many different types of rays, and most chemical formulas only block a few types of UV rays. They may even block beneficial rays while letting harmful ones through, giving users a false sense of safety.

  3. When skin damage occurs while using chemical sunscreen, the damage is more severe.
Since the skin’s natural recovery function is suppressed, injuries heal poorly, and users may be at greater risk of skin cancer.

  4. Toxicity is a major concern.
Most chemical sunscreens contain toxic heavy metals like zinc and titanium, which act like mirrors reflecting sunlight. Imagine finely ground metallic powder mixed with oil and alcohol and spread on your skin — that’s essentially what it is.

  5. “Non-whitening” sunscreens are even more dangerous.
They use nano-sized metal particles that penetrate deeply into the skin and bloodstream, increasing toxicity risks. Accidental ingestion — especially by children or animals — can be fatal and has been linked to colon cancer.

The main purpose of sunscreen is to prevent burns and protect our DNA from ultraviolet damage. Yet ironically, ingredients such as Oxybenzone and BHA, commonly found in chemical sunscreens, increase free radicals (which destroy cells), thus raising the risk of cancer and other diseases.

These products also block vitamin D production, an essential nutrient. Vitamin D strengthens the immune system — that’s why people say, “Get enough sun in summer so you won’t catch colds in winter.”

Chemical sunscreens stop your body from producing vitamin D naturally. Overuse can even impair your body’s ability to make it at all.

Scientists warn that long-term use of chemical sunscreens may worsen diabetes and hypertension. (Our company, long known for its diabetes and blood pressure products, has collected extensive data on this topic.)

Another serious issue is precocious puberty in children, especially girls. Some researchers believe this is not only caused by hormones in meat and dairy but also by chemicals in sunscreens that disrupt the body’s hormone balance, acting like excess estrogen. Some scientists worry that this may lead to infertility in boys and prostate enlargement later in life.

Most chemical sunscreens also use alcohol, which dehydrates the skin, speeds up aging, and increases vulnerability to disease. Artificial fragrances can also be carcinogenic.

Unlike premium cosmetics that are used sparingly, people often apply large amounts of sunscreen at once, increasing exposure to these harmful ingredients.

The Solution: Eleotin® Pango

To address these concerns, we developed Eleotin® Pango, a natural sunscreen made entirely from certified organic plant-based ingredients.

Every ingredient in Eleotin Pango is approved for use in food products, which means it’s so safe you could eat it.
(However, it’s not meant to be consumed in large amounts — while small accidental ingestion is safe, excessive intake may cause mild diarrhea.)

It contains no heavy metals, no harmful chemicals, and no hormones, making it completely safe for children.

Benefits:

  • Strengthens the skin’s natural protection and healing ability

  • Provides deep moisturizing effects

  • Contains no alcohol or synthetic fragrance

  • Recommended to store in the refrigerator after opening

  • Apply before sun exposure and again after returning indoors

  • Convenient pouch packaging — ideal for outdoor use

  • Long-term use improves skin health and offers SPF 20–30 protection

  • Encourages natural vitamin D production (remember to wash it off after returning indoors)

Usage & Precautions

  • Rub thoroughly and allow to dry before going into sunlight.

  • Even if you’ve applied it during the day, applying again before bedtime helps overnight repair.

  • Use within 2–3 months after opening. If the color, smell, or texture changes, stop using.

  • Always close the lid tightly and store upright in the refrigerator.

  • As it’s made only from natural ingredients, consistency may change with temperature (it may become firmer below 15°C or more liquid above 40°C).
Simply shake or warm it slightly before use.

※ Oil separation may occasionally occur due to the absence of chemical stabilizers — this is normal.
Because of its strong natural antioxidant effect, a small amount goes a long way.

Approved by Health Canada

Health Canada License Number: 80065486

Having a government-issued approval number is very important for cosmetic products in Canada.

  • Health Canada, the federal body that regulates health products, requires all cosmetics sold domestically to be registered and assigned a unique identification number. This ensures safety and compliance with the Food and Drugs Act and Cosmetic Regulations.

  • The approval number also allows authorities to monitor and trace products for potential safety concerns, enabling quick recalls if necessary.

  • Finally, government approval builds consumer trust and confidence, demonstrating that the product is safe and effective for its intended use — ultimately helping increase brand credibility and sales.
