Eastwood's Official Statement on Rumors/Claims That Some of Our Blood Sugar Health Products Cure Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes

Between 1995 and 1997, our company acquired several technologies related to the improvement of "metabolic syndrome," jointly developed by the University of Calgary in Canada (Julia MacFarlane Institute) and Yale University in the United States. Based on these technologies, we obtained approvals from Health Canada, the Chinese government and a few other countries. Currently, we have about 150 products across various fields, including metabolic syndrome, autoimmune diseases, and viral infections… which are approved for production and sale.

The research team that provided us with the metabolic syndrome technology included world-renowned leaders in the field of diabetes, such as the "President of the American Diabetes Association" and  a couple of  Nobel Prize nominees. The research was conducted at the Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research Centre at the University of Calgary and the Yale University School of Medicine, both internationally renowned institutions for Type 1 diabetes research.

The technology we acquired involved various herbal compound formulas, including one described as a revolutionary herbal formula that could potentially cure Type 1 diabetes if used for about two years, according to the document the researchers provided. The research team hoped our company would lead the commercialization of this formula.

At the time, $40 million in funding from the Canadian government had already been invested in this technology over the period of 17 years, according to the researcher. Animal and preliminary human trials were completed, and intellectual property protection was in place.

However, the research team expressed concerns about potential political/professional attacks from other diabetes specialists and pharmaceutical companies who firmly believe that "Type 1 diabetes is incurable." They were also worried about severe criticism from mainstream academia, which focuses on specific active ‘pharmaceutical’ ingredients rather than synthetic herbal formulas.

Moreover, due to the heavy reliance on pharmaceutical companies funding, the universities/ research institutions involved could face financial difficulties if they published findings under their names. Hence, they requested our independent company (who is not dependent upon big pharmaceutical companies) to find an appropriate way to publish the technology and commercialize the product.

When I expressed concerns about potential attacks on our company, they assured me that they would guarantee the scientific validity and results in writing (which they provided in time), urging us to proceed with the project.

As a young and determined individual at the time, I decided to take on the project, investing approximately $200 million in research and development for this (and other) technologies, resulting in the development and approval of around 150 products (EleotinYouandMe.com).

However, when we attempted to commercialize and sell the Type 1 related diabetes products, we faced significant resistance from vested interests and so called “Diabetes Establishment”. Major pharmaceutical companies tried to persuade us to sell the technology/the company to them, threatening to bankrupt our company if we refused. We encountered various pressures.

Dr. Ji-Won Yoon's team faced significant dishonor when one of their research results (“unrelated to our products”) was questioned for being potentially fraudulent after other institutions failed to replicate the results. This unfortunate incident can still be found in searches today.

However, in the defense of his honor, I testify that I personally witnessed the successful results (of that experiment in question) at the original experiment site, leading me to believe that some critical know-how might have been omitted in the published research that caused controversy. Such strategic withholding of commercially vital know-how is common in the scientific circles, especially the pharmaceutical-biotech, community. I believe there were political motives behind the discrediting of these original experiments of Dr. Yoon. There were other attacks on us, which you can find in internet. We disproved all the attacks. All the attacks on us disappeared eventually.

Nevertheless, we were still concerned about potential political attacks if we marketed the Type 1 diabetes products on a big scale. Therefore, we negotiated with regulatory authorities for a long time during the approval process.

Originally, we were required to specify whether the product was for Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. However, we agreed to categorize it under the broader term "blood sugar health," avoiding specific claims of curing diabetes and using a general expression of "promoting healthy blood sugar levels." This strategic/legal ambiguity was meant to protect our company, allowing Type 1 diabetes patients to “infer” potential benefits without us making explicit claims. (Here again, let me repeat that we do not make such claims!)

In the mean time, our company focused on the Type 2 diabetes market, refraining from advertising or marketing activities for the Type 1 diabetes market.

Nevertheless, many desperate parents of Type 1 diabetes patients started using our products despite the lack of advertising and our denials of such cure claims.

In many cases, the results were very positive (we compile and report these results from time to time). However, some patients mistakenly believed they were cured and stopped using insulin injections, which is very dangerous. Therefore, we created educational materials emphasizing that insulin should only be discontinued under the guidance of a specialist. (More specifically, 1) their blood sugar levels show normality over a long period of time, 2)Their C-Peptide should be normalized, Beta cell being fully regenerated 3)Their plasma insulin levels should be normalized, 4)Their GAD should be normalized. 5) All Complications disappear)  You can not just “feel OK” and discontinue insulin injections.  We continue to provide such education frequently. That is why you see so many strong disclaimers all around this webpage.

Despite our focus on Type 2 diabetes, user testimonials and videos of Type 1 diabetes patients' experiences with our product began circulating online. Word spread, and families of dozens of patients started gathering in online communities, drawing media attention. In Korea, there is a open Chatroom for such parents composed of 100 or some members.

To prevent inaccurate reporting by uninformed media outlets, we are officially clarifying our position as follows.

Firstly, we do “not claim” that any of our products, beyond the individually approved effects by Health Canada and the health authorities of the user country, have therapeutic or preventive effects for any disease. We do not claim that Type 1 diabetes can be cured. While individual users might infer so from the data, we explicitly do not make such claims. Nevertheless, we do neither refute such consumer interpretations. Consumers and their doctors should make their own judgments based on the provided information and testimonials and their own results. (More specifically, 1) their blood sugar levels show normality over a long period of time, 2)Their C-Peptide should be normalized, Beta cell being fully regenerated 3)Their plasma insulin levels should be normalized, 4)Their GAD should be normalized. 5) All Complications disappear)
